Saudi Arabia’s Diriyah Governorate is currently gearing up for the ninth season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, which to take place on Friday and Saturday, 27-28 January 2023.

Organized and sponsored by the Saudi Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), exciting night races are set to take place over the course of two days within Diriyah’s historical walls.

With eyes on the prize, Diriyah is currently charging up to host some of the world’s most prominent drivers in Formula E racing, the first global sport to be certified with a net zero carbon footprint.

The 2.49 km-long Diriyah Street Circuit will be center stage for the second and third rounds of the 16-round Formula E global campaign, while a total of 22 drivers, representing 11 teams, will go wheel-to-wheel around 21 corners.
The CORE Diriyah E-Prix 2023 double-header night race will feature the state-of-the-art Gen3 Formula E race car for the very first time in Saudi Arabia, in addition to the participation of NEOM McLaren Formula E Team.

Over the course of 45 minutes per round, competitors will drive for 33 laps amid carnival-like atmospheres featuring celebrations, music concerts and entertainment events.
Several concerts have been scheduled to entertain race enthusiasts under the floodlights of the latest in low-power LED technology with anticipated favourable weather conditions.

The gigs are organized by MDLBEAST, a Saudi Arabia-based creative platform that aims to boost the overall regional music scene with help from the latest state-of-the-art audiovisual techs.

Egyptian singer Mahmoud El Esseily is set to light up the atmosphere when he performs live on stage during the opening concert on Friday 27 January at 6:00 PM, followed by US R&B sensation Miguel, as well as DJ Loush and DJ Martin Garrix at 9:15 PM.

Round two entertainment on Saturday 28 January will include a live performance by Egyptian superstar Mohamed Hamaki at 6:00 PM, followed by rapper French Montana, word-renowned singer John Legend, and DJ Danny Bogari after the race ends at 9:15 PM.

Previous Diriyah Formula E rounds enjoyed a massive success, whether when it came to racing and results or music events, which were attended live by tens of thousands of fans and were watched by millions on local and global TV networks.

Spectators are also set to enjoy a bit of DJ spinning while watching light shows, laser lighting displays and fireworks under the sky of the UNESCO World Heritage site.

Arriving in Saudi Arabia from Mexico, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship kick-started its new season in North America, before airlifting the cars into Riyadh. The championship will then move to Hyderabad in India for the fourth round in February, followed by Cape Town in South Africa during the same month, then Brazil, Germany, Monaco, Indonesia, USA, and Italy, before reaching the journey’s last stop in the UK.
