His Excellency the Saudi Minister of Finance, Mr. Mohammed Aljadaan, participated in the Board of Governors’ retreat of the Islamic Development Bank Group, which was held today, 12 January 2025, at the King Salman International Convention Center in Medina. The meeting featured high-level consultations and in-depth discussions to exchange views and ideas aimed at developing an updated strategy for the Bank for the period 2026–2035.
In his welcoming speech, Minister Aljadaan greeted the Governors of the Bank, emphasizing the importance of the meeting as a platform for shaping a forward-looking vision that strengthens the Bank's role in achieving sustainable development. He also noted the general frameworks and strategic discussion points, and detailed theaspects that should be considered when preparing the Bank's future strategy.
In addition, Minister Aljadaan stressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting joint development efforts and strengthening Islamic solidarity, highlighting the pivotal role the Kingdom has played as one of the largest supporters of the Islamic Development Bank Group since its establishment.
Minister Aljadaan stressed the importance of focusing on key priorities for the upcoming phase, including maximizing the Bank’s comparative advantages to enhance its efficiency and effectiveness, achieving a tangible developmental impact on the lives of individuals in member countries, enhancing the institutional governance framework to ensure transparency and efficiency, and optimally utilizing financial and knowledge resources to serve the development goals of member countries.
Minister. Aljadaan emphasized that the Kingdom will continue its unwavering support for the Bank and its member countries to achieve the aspirations of their peoples for a brighter future. He also stressed the importance of productive dialogue and constructive proposals to advance the path of sustainable development.
