The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) launched the second edition of the "Enriching Arabic Content" initiative yesterday evening, Wednesday, at the "Content Enrichment" ceremony, which was held by Ithra at the King Abdullah Center in Riyadh, under the slogan "We Empower to Enrich", in the presence of a large crowd of the most prominent leading content creators in the region, media professionals and a number of representatives of institutions and companies interested in this promising industry.



The ceremony witnessed a comparison between artificial intelligence and human intelligence techniques, and the extent of their impact on the reality and future of the Arabic content industry, and reviewed the winning projects of the first version of the initiative through a visual presentation, while the tracks of the second version of the initiative were mentioned, namely: documentaries, literature, translation, electronic platforms, music, podcasts, mobile video games (mobile games), which come in close partnership with the Cultural Fund, with the aim of supporting and financing the initiative's projects, within the framework of activating ways of cooperation. And communication between Ithra and the Cultural Fund.



In a speech delivered during the ceremony, Noura Al-Zamil, Director of Programs at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), explained that Ithra has taken it upon itself to create and enrich content, as it has been working since its inception in various cultural fields, reflecting the role played by the Center as a local content producer with international standards, and said: "We have leadership in producing content that resembles us, celebrates our culture and reflects our Arab identity, which we cherish."



Al-Zamil stressed that the center provides opportunities for creative ideas, by supporting the content market and industry with the aim of reaching globally competitive Arabic content, through the "Enriching Arabic Content" initiative, which was launched in 2020, in addition to the scarcity of digital Arabic content, as it represents only 3% of the total content globally, while the initiative aims to provide various opportunities in the cultural and creative sectors in the Kingdom, by supporting and financing Saudi small and medium enterprises that wish to produce Arabic content. and provide financial, marketing and logistical support to it.



Al-Zamil pointed out that the number of participants in the first edition reached about 500 participations, and 14 projects were selected in the first edition, and the number of beneficiaries of this initiative is expected to reach hundreds of millions, from inside and outside the Kingdom during the next three years.



The ceremony also included an exhibition accompanying the content projects that the Center has been working on and showing Ithra's efforts in supporting and developing Arabic content, in addition to the winning projects from the first edition of the initiative, which resulted in more than 430 job opportunities, within 13 projects, 6 of which are startups, in addition to 26 books and 20 documentary films.



At the end of the ceremony, Ithra began receiving applications for the initiative in its second edition through the Center's website, and the submission will continue until March 31, 2023, and the jury will supervise the applications to select the winners who will have the opportunity to obtain financial, technical and logistical support from Ithra, and the winning projects are expected to be announced on July 31, 2023.
