The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property requests public consultation on a draft regulation for licensing the practice of intellectual property business












The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property has requested public consultation on a draft regulation for licensing the practice of intellectual property business, where SAIP aims to regulate, support, develop, sponsor and protect the fields of intellectual property in the Kingdom. For this purpose, it may propose laws and regulations related to intellectual property rights, enhance the use of intellectual property; To build an advanced knowledge-based economy, and to license activities related to SAIP field of work.






The draft regulation for licensing the practice of intellectual property business aims to regulate the work of intellectual property applicants on behalf of third parties before the Authority, and to qualify and license practitioners, specialists and those interested in practicing the profession.






SAIP invites interested public and private sectors, entities and individuals, to express their views on the “draft regulation for licensing the practice of intellectual property business” and to submit written notes in this regard before the end of Sunday 01/04/1442 AH ( 08/23/2020 ), by sending them to The authority's mail [email protected] with the name of the person or institution providing the comments, via the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property website saip.gov.sa






Through this project, SAIP seeks to increase the number of practitioners qualified for the profession of intellectual property agent to cover the needs of the local market, and to supervise and follow up the performance of agents working in the field and support them, to facilitate the practice of activity and enhance the beneficiary's confidence in the licensed agent in addition to enhancing the quality of services provided to the beneficiaries (locally and abroad) through qualified and licensed professionals.






The authority also works on developing the fields of intellectual property business, enhancing competitiveness among agents to provide quality services to beneficiaries, developing the national economy therein, encouraging individuals and empowering those with relevant specializations to practice the profession to build a sustainable market in this profession.
