Theater and Performing Arts Commission Launches 3rd Qemam International Festival for Mountain Performance Arts in Aseer

The Theater and Performing Arts Commission has launched the 3rd edition of the Qemam International Festival for Mountain Performance Arts, which is taking place in eight archeological sites in Aseer region from 20-27 January.

The festival, which is held daily from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., began its first day with a carnival parade held on Prince Sultan Road in Khamis Mushait, with the participation of 20 Saudi bands and 25 international bands that performed 40 mountain colors in their costumes.

Sultan Al-Bazei, CEO of the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, said the 3rd Qemam International Festival Mountain Performing Arts is an extension of the successes achieved by the previous two editions of the festival.

He also said that the new version of the festival added 15 performing groups; among them are four Saudi teams, 11 international teams, in addition to the addition of eight mountain colors, bringing the total to 40 mountain colors instead of 32 mountain colors last year. “This aims to enhance the Saudi cultural heritage and introduce the audience to the global performing heritage.”
