Al-Shadhrwan is the marble stones surrounding all sides of the Ka'ba except for the side of the black stone, it is not part of the Holy Ka'ba but was built to fortify the walls of the Ka'ba from the many torrents it is exposed to.
There are 41 rings fixed to Al-Shadhrwan to hold the ropes of the cloth that covers the Ka'ba (Al-Kiswa). Al-Shadhrwan was renovated several times over the years, the last of it being in the reign of King Fahad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud during the second grand renovation of the Holy Ka'ba in 1417 AH.
