ROSHN, Saudi Arabia's leading national real estate developer, fully owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with location technology solution provider, what3words. ROSHN will adopt what3words addresses in its communities across the Kingdom, to complement Saudi National Addresses. ROSHN and what3words will build on this partnership to collaborate on additional solutions that will facilitate the daily life of the residents in ROSHN communities, and to uplift the services offered within those communities through innovative technology solutions.
what3words has divided the world into 3 metre by 3 metre squares and given each one a unique combination of three words that make up the what3words address. Every front gate, mall entrance, parking spot, and entrance to a new build has been assigned its own unique address. For example, ///filled.count.soap will take you to the precise entrance of the what3words headquarters in London. what3words is free to download for iOS and Android, and available via the online map. The technology works offline and in over 50 languages, including Arabic.
This partnership contributes to achieving ROSHN’s vision to be the most trusted real estate developer in Saudi Arabia, bringing the best possible solutions to customers, at scale, across the nation. ROSHN communities will display the what3words address in addition to the Saudi National Address. Similarly, all key social gathering points, retail and entertainment destinations, as well public amenities will clearly display their what3words addresses for ease of access and directions. Residents will be able to receive packages delivered to their doorsteps through courier service providers who are already using what3words. Moreover, ROSHN’s community operations staff will be able to use what3words addresses to dispatch field staff efficiently and accurately to the exact location where needed.
Jason Margetts, Chief Sales Officer of ROSHN comments: “what3words is a rising technology that is quickly gaining traction amongst the younger generations of Saudis. ROSHN is excited about integrating this technology into our communities. We see great potential for what3words in the digital services sector, from delivering value-added consumer and safety services, to increasing efficiency and convenience in business operations.”
Chris Sheldrick, Co-founder and CEO of what3words commented, “It’s a privilege that ROSHN is using what3words to address their new housing solutions in their communities. New housing developments can hugely benefit from having ready-to-go addresses right from when the build is finished to help direct people and services to the correct front door or building entrance. With what3words, residents will be able to find and share the precise address of their home with three simple words, whether that’s in English, or Arabic.”
