One of the two most important mountains in Makkah, and is the first mountain to be created on earth. The mountain is located in the eastern side of the Holy Mosque overlooking the Ka'ba and close to Al-Safa mountain.

The hill on which the Holy Ka'ba was built on is connected to this mountain, and it was named Abu Qubais after the name of the first man to have built on the mountain.

Height: 375m above sea level

Location: East of the Holy Mosque

Al-Safa is the noun plural of the word Safat and Safwan, and it all means the smooth and broad stone, or the strong smooth stone mixed with gravel and sand. Al-Safa mountain was severed from Abu Qubais mountain at the time of the Saudi expansion in 1375 AH, but some pieces of rocks were left to mark the location of the sacred place.
